Within the framework of the Launching Ceremony of the Environmental Pollution Reduction Project, the Initiative “circular economy in medical plastic waste management” of the Center for Research and Development of Health Environment CHERAD was exhibited and introduced to all guests.
At the Launching Ceremony of the Pollution Reduction Project held on the morning of November 15, 2022, the initiative “Building a Circular Economy Model in Medical Plastic Waste Management” was displayed in the lobby of the program. The initiative is highly appreciated and is expected to bring positive and specific effects to the environment.
The initiative “Building a Circular Economy Model in Medical Plastic Waste Management” is implemented by the Center for Health Environment Research and Development (CHERAD) with technical support from Winrock International in the framework of the project. The Pollution Reduction Project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The initiative aims to reduce and sustainably manage medical plastic waste, contributing to reducing the leakage of plastic waste from medical facilities into the environment, through the application of a circular economy model with a collective impact.
The initiative is expected to successfully build a Model of Sustainable Management of Plastic Waste in medical facilities by rotating products, limiting inputs and utilizing the output of plastic waste to reduce emissions to the environment, establishing and maintaining a support network for sustainable medical plastic waste management, supporting the improvement of policies on medical plastic waste management, and enhancing education and training on solid waste management . The initiative exhibition booth received the attention of many participants in the program with the appearance of Mr. Tran Hong Ha – Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, showing the interest and support of agencies from government and public opinion on the issue of medical plastic waste in general and initiatives in particular.
CHERAD is one of the first two organizations to receive funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Pollution Reduction Project. With a team of qualified human resources and long-term experience in implementing projects related to environmental, health and occupational safety issues, CHERAD and the initiative “Building a Circular Economy Model in Medical Plastic Waste Management” is expected to create practical and meaningful impacts, contributing to improving the situation of medical plastic waste.
